Regular Clinics

A child immunisation clinic is held at the surgery with the nurse. Please bring your red/blue book and see the nurses. For holiday and all other vaccinations please consult the nurses, please telephone for an appointment with the practice nurse.  More information about Immunisations

We have a computerised recall system for smear tests. Please come to the appointment as it is important to be checked in the prevention of cervical cancer. Should you not wish to have this, please see a doctor or nurse and have a disclaimer signed.

We offer flu vaccinations every October. We particularly recommend vaccinations for those at risk including patients with lung disease, asthma or bronchitis, heart disease, kidney disease, diabetes, all patients aged 65 years or over and those with lowered resistance to infection. It is also recommended for residents of nursing homes, elderly people’s homes or other long-stay facilities. Please enquire at reception early. The vaccinations are dependant on the supply please be patient

Antenatal appointments are provided by midwife and doctor in local health centre .

Routine child health surveillance checks are carried out at six weeks by the doctor at the same time as the mother’s postnatal examination and at 21/2 years by the health visitor either at the clinic or in the patient’s home.

A full range of family planning services is offered by arrangement with your doctor.

Arrangements for these are by special appointment following consultation with your own doctor. A monthly clinic is set up for this and has to be booked at the Doctor’s discretion.

People today are very aware of the need to prevent health problems from occurring. Healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle are important and we offer preventative advice aimed at maintaining health. Please ask at reception for further details.

Asthma clinics are held regularly to educate patients and improve the treatment of their asthma. Please see the doctors for details.

We hold a regular diabetic clinic offering an opportunity for education regarding diabetes, monitoring its control and enabling early detection of complications.

Medical examinations for purposes such as driving, sport or employment are carried out by special arrangement. A separate fee is payable – This is according to national rates. Insurance policy medical examinations where requested are also organized by special arrangement – in this situation there may be a fee.

We offer a full travel advice and immunisation service. If you are travelling abroad please complete and submit the travel form in plenty of time (we recommend 6-8 weeks) before your journey.  Download this form – complete it then email a copy to aurora.medcare@nhs.net.
